As a public limited company, Great Hor Kham is carrying out the company’s business functions in accordance with its vision, mission and strategies. With implementation of corporate governance system, such as policies, rules and regulations, procedures, etc., the company is striving forward to achieve sustainable growth in business sectors.
The business nature of Great Hor Kham is performing as a main contractor for other big projects, as well as its own investment. The Great Hor Kham’s main contract businesses for the 2016-2017 financial year are 1) infrastructure (earth work) construction for 105-mile fruit wholesale terminal and 2) reinforce concrete placing of diversion culvert for the 1050 MW Shweli-3 Hydropower Project.
Its own investment is 20 MW Nam Paw Hydropower Project, which is currently under construction. The project situates at 6-kilometre south of Muse township, Shan State, Myanmar. The Company has signed MOA with the Ministry of Electricity and Energy, by means of BOT. The Company is also investigating on several hydropower projects other than Nam Paw.
The general purposes of hydropower projects are 1) to improve local development, 2) to create more job opportunities for the local, 3) to provide more electricity sufficiency of the country, 4) to generate more Government revenue, and 5) to generate suitable profits for the shareholders.
According to the Corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility Policy of the company, suitable percentage of the profits will be going to support the society in three main purposes: 1) Education, 2) Health, and 3) Basic infrastructure.
Therefore, as the Corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility Policy of the company emphasizes, for the sustainable development of education in technical sector, on January 29, 2018, the Managing Director of the Great Hor Kham, Sai Ohn Myint, donated seven kinds of Rock Mechanic lab instruments (total market value of 22.9 million Kyats) to use in investigation and implementation of hydropower projects, to the Union Minister, U Win Khine, at the Meeting of Electrical and Industrial Ministers, Divisional / State Government Members, held at the Ministry of Electricity and Energy. The Company was then given a certificate of appreciation by the Union Minister.
